Email to Chairman Weber

As you may know, Chairman Mark Weber represented Lexington county at the SCGOP Executive Committee meeting regarding Pickens.

The spirit and wording of his report indicated he was acting as a friend to Pickens by proposing an amendment to allow Pickens County to resume as a party without redoing their ReOrg.

However, a report I received yesterday indicated that he proposed the amendment, only to 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐝 it later. Mark made no such mention of rescinding anything, so I have written him requesting clarification.

Ultimately, all that Mark accomplished was adding a censure of the former Pickens chairman to the horrendous penalty of disbanding the Pickens County Republican Party.

Mark,

I’m writing to follow up on the report we received at our last county meeting regarding the Pickens situation.

In your report, you stated that you offered an amendment that (1) included censure of the former Pickens County Chair and (2) would allow Pickens to resume as a county party without redoing their ReOrg and convention. You explained that after a recess, your secondary amendment ultimately did not pass.

However, new information has come to my attention. I received a report that after the break, you RESCINDED your secondary amendment altogether:

“𝐌𝐫. 𝐖𝐞𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐬' 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐂𝐆𝐎𝐏 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐠. The Pickens EC has confirmed this account to me in direct conversation. If this is accurate, it appears to differ from the version you shared with our members.

For the sake of transparency and accuracy, could you please clarify:

1. Did you in fact rescind your amendment after the break?

2. If so, what were the circumstances surrounding that decision?

3. Why was this not clearly communicated in your report to our county?

Our members deserve clear and honest updates from leadership, especially on matters as consequential as this. Clarifying this discrepancy would help ensure confidence moving forward.

Sincerely,

Sarah Grace Allen
