Darline Graham Nordone - The Ultimate Politician
Have you heard the news? Darline "what's her name" isn’t a politician.
I’ve always appreciated people who aren’t politicians but are flip the tables when necessary. That could be a refreshing choice in the Aug. 25 Republican special primary runoff for United States Senate.
But her short time in the spotlight tells a very different story.
She couldn’t be more of a politician.
Let’s take a look at just how “not a politician” she really is:
𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. Just three days after being appointed to the seat by establishment king Gov. Henry McMaster, Graham Nordone had already decided to run for the Senate, despite having no prior experience holding such a position.
𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗲. She read talking points from a legal pad, delivering consultant-driven attacks against her opponent, U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman. Nothing authentic or honest was going on there. She doubled-down a day later on the Taiwan question she was unable to answer. The world deserved some sort of answer to the very important question.
𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴. Graham Nordone is backed by the usual suspects in the D.C. swamp. If liberal, Trump-hating U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s PAC is willing to contribute well above the legal limit to the “non-politician,” it raises questions about how independent non-politiciany and Graham Nordone would really be from Washington.
𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮. The list includes a litany of the state’s liberal, status-quo lawmakers. Norman, meanwhile, has received support from some of the state’s most conservative legislators.
𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆. Graham Nordone has raised relatively little money from South Carolinians. Yet the television ads, mailers and text messages continue to flood voters’ homes and phones, funded by outside groups. These groups have repeatedly attacked Norman with well-documented lies. When asked about the groups or their messaging, Graham Nordone has said she doesn’t know anything about them or what they are saying. Yet somehow, the same talking points consistently appear out of her mouth at her campaign events.
𝗢𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. At 62 years old and after several weeks of campaigning for the Senate, one would think Graham Nordone would have developed a position on when life begins. Instead, when asked, she said she would have to “think about” it. That leaves voters guessing about where she stands on one of the most consequential issues facing the Senate, which votes on judicial and Cabinet nominees.
𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆. During a recent event, a staffer stated to a journalist “nothing too difficult” before Graham Nordone took questions. While she has granted interviews to her chosen Fox News personalities, she has declined numerous other opportunities. WORD 98.9, the juggernaut news-talk station in the upstate, has been unable to secure an interview, and other outlets have faced similar responses. She has even declined the nationally syndicated Clay & Buck show. Norman, by contrast, has continued to make himself available for interviews.
𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀' 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀. Graham Nordone has made her opposition to boys competing in girl's sports central to her campaign. The problem? South Carolina law has prevented boys from competing in girls' sports since 2022.
As it turns out, Graham Nordone is the ultimate politician.
She has managed to turn a lack of experience and knowledge into a campaign message, presenting them as virtues rather than shortcomings.
South Carolina is choosing someone for one of the most powerful positions in the world - not an administrative assistant who will receive on-the-job training.
Choose wisely.
